First attempt at equipment mounting

The equipment which we are using is of the Marconi “mobile” family – this was similar to the studio variant but packaged in mobile cases using quick-release shock-resistant mountings.

Marconi BBC Truck.

Photographs and diagrams of similar trucks show that a common method of mounting these units was to use a skeleton made from sections of pole (rather like scaffold pole) – this theory was confirmed by conversations with ex-Marconi staff.

So, armed with a large amount of “Kee-Lite” poles, cross-pieces, tee-pieces and feet, we set-to to construct the framework on which to mount the equipment!
