British Heritage Television

HTL LogoThe British Heritage Television site aims to support public education in the history of television, by demonstrating vintage transmitting equipment, vintage receivers, and over-the-air broadcasting using the 405-line TV system, with traditional scheduling and content.

From their “About Us” Page:

In 1936, 405-line television was a great achievement for its time, with electronic valve technology being pushed to the limits of its capabilities, and the whole system being a feat of engineering that was the envy of many other countries.

British Heritage Television aims to launch a series of television demonstrations using the historic 405-line monochrome TV system, combined with traditional content and scheduling – allowing fascinating comparisons to be made between past and present screen-based systems and services.
